Who we are
  • BADISA is registered as a non-profit organization (NPO 011-891) and as a public welfare organization (PBO 930 006 348)
  • The Synodical Commission for the Service of Compassion of the Dutch Reformed Church (Western- and Southern Cape) and the Synodical Commission for Diaconal Services of the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa (Cape) decided to amalgamate their social services programs in 2003, to a combined ministry, called BADISA.

The BADISA programs (residential and community-based), provide services in various towns/districts in the Eastern-, Northern- and Western Cape. Work agreements between BADISA, other welfare organizations and the Department of Social Development, as well as the admission policy in the case of residential programs, determine the exact work area.

BADISA is a church-based social services organization, which provides services in the Western-, Northern- and Eastern Cape, focused on the care, social development and treatment of indigent and vulnerable people of all ages, race, sexuality and religion.

  • The organization is governed by a Member's Council of 41 members. BADISA's members are equally representative of both churches, as well as representatives from the regions. The Member's Council meets once per year at the Annual General Meeting.

BADISA is part of provincial and national networks for charity, such as the Western Cape Directors Forum, Social Services Board of the Church (KMDR), the National Association of Charity Organizations and Non-profit Organizations (NAWONGO/WWO) and the National Coalition for Social Services (NACOSS).

Staff Members

  • All programme staff, including the management programme, are managed in terms of BADISA's staff policy.
  • The service conditions, disciplinary procedures as well as the grievance procedures followed by BADISA are set out in this policy.

Finance Management

Each programme is an independent unit and is managed as such. Should a specific programme no longer be financially sustainable for whatever reason, the future of the programme is decided on without including the other programmes of BADISA or the organisation as a whole. Funds are not moved between programmes to ensure the sustainability of a programme.
